Toyota Tundra vs. GMC Sierra 1500
When you need the power to handle your drive, you'll find the Toyota Tundra is equipped from the get-go. Under the hood, the Tundra employs a 5.7-liter FORCE V8 that outputs 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. While the Toyota lineup keeps it simple with one engine option, the GMC Sierra makes you choose an engine from their array of options. However, the base engine, a 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6, only delivers 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque, making it significantly less powerful than the Tundra's base engine.
Speaking of base power, the Toyota truck tows a maximum of 10,200 pounds, allowing you to attach your trailer and hit the road. No matter what model you choose in the GMC Sierra 1500 lineup, no truck will tow as much as the Tundra - the Sierra 1500 maxes out its towing capacity at 9,500 pounds, with the base model failing to crack 8,000 pounds.
Driving with confidence gets easier in the new Toyota Tundra compared to the GMC Sierra 1500. The Toyota lineup is standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ P, which employs features like a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Alert to keep you safe. The GMC Sierra 1500 offers some of these features at the base level, but you'll need to pay extra to equip them.
Toyota Tundra vs. Nissan Titan
Base towing capacity should matter because what better reason to seek out a truck than to have something that can bring the extra tools and equipment to your next job site? The base Titan trim is impressive, managing a towing capacity of 9,310 pounds. However, it's nearly 1,000 pounds less than the base Toyota Tundra model, which offers up to 10,200 pounds of towing with its base trim configuration.
While you might not consider efficiency a big concern when searching for a full-size pickup truck, saving on trips to the gas pump can help keep a little extra cash in your pocket. The Nissan Titan manages a fairly efficient fuel economy with slightly better numbers than the Toyota Tundra. However, the Tundra offers a fuel tank that can hold up to 38 gallons of gas - the Nissan Titan tops out at 26 gallons, making it more likely that you'll need to stop more frequently to fill up.
